Hello everyone!

What an exciting time this has been! I’ve just wrapped up an incredible chapter of my journey on Príncipe Island, where I had the privilege of being as a Field Coordinator and launching our pilot project. Looking back, I see a whirlwind of learning, challenges overcome, and—most importantly—hearts we touched and that touched mine.

Being a Field Coordinator here means living SOMA’s mission up close, every single day. It’s so much more than managing tasks and budgets—though that’s definitely important. It’s about being the bridge, the person who manages, listens, offers a shoulder, and ensures strong relationships with the team, our partners, and, when needed, the local government.

I remember every moment I had to make quick decisions, every obstacle that seemed huge and that, together as a team, we managed to turn into opportunities. The volunteers I worked with were and continue to be incredible people who made this project a reality and contributed to its success. Their energy and dedication on the ground are undoubtedly the driving force behind our daily work.

But what fills my heart the most are the daily classes with our girls—watching them shine in the ocean, grow in their studies, and share their energy. They remind us every day why we do what we do. Being a mentor to 10 girls is a privilege that turns you into a kind of second family—a bond so strong it’s truly priceless.

If you’re reading this and your heart beats a little faster, if you can picture yourself living close to nature, leading with purpose to create real and lasting impact—this position might be for you. SOMA isn’t just a project or a personal adventure, it’s a commitment—a journey of giving, contributing, and working side by side with local communities. It’s a serious choice that requires reflection and preparation, and through this dedication, it can indeed become a life-changing experience.

Hope to meet you soon!
